Paul was an R & B refugee before we rescued him from playing 'Born to be Wild' into his middle ages. Previously, his only link to celtic music, was his unique ability to be able to perspire like Christie Moore. Once we took away his fuzz / wah / distort pedals he seemed to have the potential to enhance our musical style. (We only really kept him to check out his bizarre collection of Bass Guitars). His bass lines are inspired - some amazing runs up and down scales, contrasting with calm, cool tunes, certainly help the band achieve the sound that they have been striving for.
